The Brief
A local authority needed to understand the thermal performance of their housing stock to prioritise energy efficiency investment. Traditional inspection methods would have been time-consuming and disruptive for tenants.
Our Approach
We conducted an estate-wide drone thermographic survey, capturing thermal imagery of every elevation across the portfolio. Selected properties underwent detailed airtightness testing to provide ground-truth calibration data.
The Results
The authority received a comprehensive dataset enabling evidence-based decision making:
- Prioritised list of properties requiring intervention
- Identified common defect patterns across building types
- Cost-benefit analysis for different retrofit approaches
- Baseline data for measuring improvement post-retrofit
